The Open Society Foundations, founded by George Soros, are the world’s largest private funder of independent groups working for justice, democratic governance, and human rights. We provide thousands of grants every year through a network of national and regional foundations and offices, funding a vast array of projects—many of them now shaped by the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Paragon was created to infuse insights that will help to tackle the 17-point plan of the UN Global Goals – end poverty, combat climate change, and fight injustice and inequality around the world.
A single government or organisation cannot find the solutions to these global challenges. Our only hope is to work in partnership, where everyone plays their part.
- Governments have the highest quality macro level data about the state of the world, its economy and resources.
- NGOs have the most committed and passionate teams working to improve the human condition.
- Academia has the smartest thinkers capable of analysing the causes of the challenges facing humanity.
- Research Companies interact with and analyse the behaviours and opinions of billions of people every year, providing a unique source of insight into the human condition.
- Clients leverage that information to sharpen the focus of their sustainability initiatives.
Paragon brings them together in partnership; Research Companies and their Clients generate and provide access to quality insights on the issues that the world is facing, helping Governments, Academics and NGO’s around the world to accomplish their goals.
UN SDG Action Campaign
The UN Secretary-General established the UN SDG Action Campaign to convene people from every part of the world to push for the Sustainable Development Goals—and hold decision-makers to account for progress.
For all parts of the United Nations, the Action Campaign provides strategies to engage with citizens around SDG action, and develops tailored tools and approaches for priority constituencies. It tests advocacy innovations that can reach diverse audiences and be widely applied within and beyond the UN system.
The Action Campaign makes links to key decision-making moments at the local, national and global level, including the High-Level Political Forum and the UN General Assembly. Through channels for listening to people’s perspectives (including UN75), it helps UN Member States and UN partners to improve awareness, and strengthen engagement and commitment to action on the SDGs.
The UN SDG Action Campaign is one of the founding members of the UN team behind the launch of the Decade of Action for the SDGs, which the UN Secretary-General announced in 2019 to accelerate sustainable solutions to the world’s biggest challenges.
